6000 new stadiums at Gram Panchayat Level

In a press conference held today by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, new initiatives to boost sports among the youth were introduced

Bengaluru: The Government of Karnataka is merging Rs. 504 crores under the NREGA funds with the sports department to create 6000 odd stadiums and sports infrastructure at the Gram Panchayat level.

They also added that the second State Mini Olympic Games will be a week-long multi-sport event featuring 21 disciplines from 16 to 22 May, 2022. There will be a total 5000 athletes under the age of 14 attending the event.

KOA President K Govindaraj said, “The top eight athletes in each category in each event have been selected to participate in the Mini Olympics by the respective state representatives.”
