After all the promises from the authority since mid-2018, Anchepalya lake has started seeing the development phase.

Anchepalya lake is on the verge of completing the development phase and will be ready in 2 months. The slum and the houses, just beside the lake are now happy with the improvement.

Mr Nagesh, the Resident, says “I am happy that Gram Panchayat is finally now working on the development of lake. The condition of the lake is much better than before. Since they are converting it into a lake park, it will be good for a morning walk.”

The Gram Panchayat is working on converting the lake into a lake park. 2 fogging machines have been purchased to solve the mosquitos’ problem.

Y.V. Balasubramaniam, Secretary (Gram Panchayat) says “Path construction around the lake is sponsored by Gram Panchayath. Funds are from Gram Panchayat reserved funds. We have Divided the Lake into two parts. In the first part, we save rainwater directly. After water gets purified, we will transfer it into the second part.”

Mr Govinda, a shop owner nearby the lake, says” They are doing it more last one month, and they are doing it so well. There is no mosquito problem now because water does not stand now. In another 2-3 month, it is going to be ready.”

Mosquitoes, Insects and reptiles were a major problem due to the condition of the lake. 2 fogging machines have been purchased to solve the mosquito problem. Experts say that regular checks will keep the lake clean.

A.N. Yellappa Reddy, an environmentalis, says “The lakes should be preserved and taken care. The authorities should develop a specific group to take care of the lake. A regular check and necessary actions are enough to protect lakes. Not just the authorities but people who live nearby should also take care of the lake park by keeping it clean.”

Finally, the village has turned more beautiful by the lake park.
