Ranji Trophy knockouts will be held in Bangalore next month

Bengaluru : With the Ranji Trophy’s knockouts to be played in Bengaluru next month, former India cricketer Gundappa Vishwanath says this will give an edge to the state team.

Karnataka is currently ranked first in the tournament’s Elite Group C category.

“It’s always a plus point, added advantage playing on your home ground. These days you often don’t get the chance to play even home matches at home (because of COVID scheduling). I hope Karnataka does well and wish them the best,” said Vishwanath.

Speaking at a function on his book titled Wrist Assured, the cricketing legend also spoke about the changing nature of the game.

“In our era, there was no one-day cricket, forget T20. But we played that kind of cricket. Those who watched it, enjoyed it. In the modern era, what better example do you need than Rahul (Dravid)? Without technique, could he have survived? It’s not a joke,” added Vishwanath

The event was moderated by renowned sports journalist Suresh Menon and attendees included historian Ramachandra Guha and former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid.
