More than 40% people in Yeswanth nagar are struggling to get gas cylinders from Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojona.
Approximately 40% household are using wood based chulhas as they don’t have LPG gas connection from govt.
Approximately 3000 cases are registered to the panchayat office.
One college student Manjula.S says “We are not able to get cylinders which are provided by Government. So we are going to the panchayat office everyday to get cylinders.” She also added that while they go for complaining panchayat officer they say that they have no money.
The residents of Yeswanthnagar village have rely on Chulhas and oil and some kerosene stoves to make their food.
The people and the panchayat both have addressed their concern regarding the supply of gas cylinders to the higher authorities.
The Panchayat Pradhan added that they have complaint to the local BJP MP but there is no response for that.
Gram Panchayat Pradhan Shivram S. Says, “We have completed the quota of SC, ST. We have almost completed 100% of them but not even 2% general people get cylinders. We have complained couple of times to the MP but there is no response.”
Expert also believes there should some separate fund for the general caste people as well. He also added that these kind cases are available in almost every village across the India. So, government should take smart initiative to modify the problem.
Mr. Ravindar who is a social activist for under privileged group says, “People are arriving panchayat office every day. They are basically going back empty handed with no money, no facilities for gas. There should be some separate fund for general category as well”.
People of Yeswanthnagr are still waiting for cylinders and protesting every day.
