Victoria Hospital got its first Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Unit. It is also the first therapy unit for any government hospital in Karnataka. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy helps with severe cases of non-healing wounds, heart attacks, brain injuries and burns. The increased oxygen helps to regenerate new cells.
The machine costs 3.5 lakh rupees. The medical superintendent of Victoria hospital said that it will accommodate 5 persons per session. The hospital is going to provide free services for patients below the poverty line. Initially, the Burn department which has 50 beds at the hospital is going to use it. They have plans to introduce it in the respiratory ward soon.
