There is huge traffic in the West Chord Road due to delay in the construction of the flyover that was proposed two years back. An underpass was to be built here which later got re-designed into a flyover. There is a delay in the construction work because the process is going slow.

The construction is going slow from the very beginning, said by the site engineers. No means are used to speed up the work in order to set the path free.

Sarita, shop owner of that locality said, “It is becoming very difficult for people to travel due to traffic congestion. It s expected to get completed within six months if the work follows a fast pace.”

The reason behind the flyovers in Bangalore remaining unscheduled in completion is lack of planning power by The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and the Executive Agencies, says the Civil Engineer. Monsoon is round the corner, for which the work has slowed down.

The road is partially blocked by the construction work. The 8km Chord Road will be signal free, once the construction is completed.

Residents protested against felling of trees to construct this. So the plan changed and they started working on the flyover.

Girish Hegde, Civil engineer Amin Bhavi& Hegde Consulting Pvt. Ltd, said,” Not enough land is acquired before giving out the project. The system follows the vicious cycle.”This is a project at the 72nd Cross on the West Chord Road. Contractors of the flyover said,”The construction of flyover will be completed within the next six months.”
