Gym Business sees recovery signs in Pithoragarh

Controlled cases of corona lead to 30 per cent increase in membership as per district office.

There is a 30 per cent increase in gyms membership in Pithoragarh after Unlock-3. The less number of reported cases of corona in the city could be one of the reasons for this surge according to the district office. On March 2020 gyms were shut down in country due to government directives. The permission of reopening the gym was given under unlock-3 in Uttarakhand on August 5. While gyms in some cities are facing a crisis, in Pithoragarh they are coming back to life.

 

The owner of extreme fitness gym Suraj Chand said that compared to before more people are coming to gym after reopening. The number of slots has also been increased because of safety concerns and guidelines given by government. Even during the lockdown there were number of people who paid for exercise and diet plan and even bought fitness equipment.

 

Gym member Bhumika Kohli said “I am sitting on one place for hours so going to gym is really important for me at these times.” Another gym member Deepak Mehta said that exercising is the lonely thing which would boost our immunity which is necessary to fight corona. Also, if you follow the protocols at the gym it is a safe space.

 

According to market analyst Vishal Gehlot, there are number of changes in consumer behaviour due to Covid-19 which will influence the entire fitness sector. As we are more focused to stay fit and healthy to boost our immunity. He said,“I can assure you the number of gyms is going to get increased and the people associated with the business-like trainers, dieticians will have a high demand in the market.”
