No funds for the City’s blind football team

Players are upset with the lack of support from the government before national blind football matches.

Fourth Indian National blind football tournament matches to begin today in Bangalore, Bulring fever pitch, Yeshwantpur. Sunil J Mathew, Sporting director at Indian Blind Football federation says, “we will be playing the ganmes from today till Monday and the last day will be the finals. 18matches will be held among 16 teams from all over India.”

The Bangalore team speaks of how the team doesn’t receive any financial support from the government.

Dominic, Karnataka football team captain says, “its a very nice experience to participate in the tournament but we don’t receive funds from the government.”

The Director of IBFF says there is lack of fund acts as a main problem to the team. He says, “We work with CSR funds, we are looking for government funds but as of now we have no support. We also work with All India football federation but no support from them too.”
